Juke Joint Returns to YS Ohio
They did it again! Comedian Dave Chappelle, harmonicist Frederic Yonnet and DJ D-Nice got together for another Juke Joint. This time for two nights back at the barn in Yellow Springs, Ohio, May 27 and 28. Grammy Award winner Jill Scott made a surprise appearance on the first night and had so much fun, she stayed for the second night! Making up songs on the spot, Jill’s poetic lyrics and perfect pitch were jaw-dropping. Always a showstopper, the original human beat box Doug E. Fresh jumped on stage several times throughout the night adding his funky fresh beats to the playlist. At one point, he even pulled out a harmonica and went head to head with harmonica master Yonnet.
Comedians Amy Schumer, Hannibal Burress and Donnell Rawlings were in the barn and Amy described it on Instagram as “the greatest night.” Other guests included A Tribe Called Quest’s Jarobi White, rappers Talib Kweli, Pharaoh Monch, Kardinal Offishall, Hi-Tek, DJ Cipha Sounds, and R&B singers Martin Luther McCoy and Wayna.
Dave’s Juke Joint is by far the best party you’ve never been too. Tickets for the pop-up, cellphone free event were sold-out in 15 minutes. If you want a heads up on the next Juke Joint follow @FredYonnet Instagram and Twitter. Then act fast!
If a picture is worth a thousand words then famed photographer Mathieu Bitton‘s got millions! He captured the essence of the event in the images below.
