Yonnet ft. on Burden’s Song
Harmonicist Frederic Yonnet plays the blues on Timothy Bloom’s single, “Burden’s Song” – and that’s the category Bloom is hoping to command as the Grammy Awards first-round voting process begins.
Yonnet and trumpeter Maurice Brown add an extra layer of soul to the track that seems to take a “musical” knee emphasizing the social injustices plaguing many communities in America. A supporting and thought-provoking music video depicts a chain-clad prisoner assaulted by a Black Sheriff as he shuffles along a railroad track.
‘Artists should write about the times,’ said Bloom paraphrasing Nina Simone. “This is my present moment in time.”
ThisIsRNB website writes, “Bloom’s production marries elements of country and the blues, with a harmonica surfacing on the guitar-driven track and handclaps taking over during the song’s hook. ‘Burden’s Song’ is a bluesy smooth reminder that, even when you feel compelled to stand up for something, you can still get down.”
Bloom, a two-time Grammy award winning producer, hopes his single will march toward a Grammy nod as the season approaches.
