Yonnet on NPR’s Tiny Desk
Frederic Yonnet doesn’t just play the harmonica, he literally becomes one. Described by comedian Dave Chappelle as an unlikely talent from an unlikely place, French-born Yonnet visits NPR’s Tiny Desk for a spontaneous, musical and all out fun performance– especially when Dave Chappelle takes over the desk to introduce his good friend.
From reggae to hip-hop to a free-style blues, Yonnet breathes new life into an instrument many have owned but few have mastered. Yonnet accesses notes which don’t naturally exist on the tiny harmonica and he does so with precision and lightening speed.
Chappelle took the seat rarely occupied at the desk to add his unique brand of playfulness. Meanwhile NPR staff and guests stood shoulder to shoulder bobbing their heads– and that was just during the sound check. The entire show is 17 minutes and features 2 originals and one improvised jam.
Tune in when Frederic Yonnet and special guest Dave Chappelle debut on NPR’sTiny Desk Concert, Monday, July 9. It can be viewed on YouTube after July 15. In the meantime, check out the promo and feel free to “like” and “share” from our IG, FB and Twitter links below:
